Mellstock - Rural retreat for the whole family, (including pets!)

Welcome to Mellstock, a traditional, pet friendly country cottage, named after Thomas Hardy’s novel ‘Under the Greenwood Tree’, set locally in picturesque rural Dorset. Its peaceful location and scenic views provide the perfect countryside escape for family, friends and pet lovers alike.
Self-catering amenities  
The traditional galley style kitchen has a dishwasher, oven, microwave and fridge, fully equipped to make self-catering simple and effortless for our guests. The cosy lounge dining room is bright and cheerful, perfect for enjoying the afternoon sunshine, as well as being complete with a TV, books and board games.
Private parking is provided along with reliable WiFi.
Family friendly sleeping arrangements
Upstairs is the spacious master bedroom, suited for couples with a king-sized bed and ensuite bathroom. The cottage is also ideal for families, with twin beds downstairs which are perfect for the kids.
Enclosed patio & outdoor living
The outside patio is south facing and complete with a BBQ and comfortable furniture, allowing al fresco dining and enabling guests to make the most of our warm summer evenings.  The patio and yard area are enclosed meaning that pets (and children) can roam safely.
Pet friendly
Mellstock can accommodate up to three pets, with amazing local walks all year around, with the possibility to explore Dorset's bridleways and coastal footpaths.
A perfect location to explore Dorset
Mellstock is located in the quaint Nottington village, with river flowing through it, there are farm shops, local pubs and restaurants all nearby. This location also provides easy access to some of Dorset’s most beloved destinations:
  • Weymouth
     – A vibrant seaside town with sandy beaches, a historic harbour, and fantastic seafood.
  • Dorchester
     – A cultural hub with Roman ruins, museums, and a charming market scene.
  • Wareham
     – A scenic riverside town and gateway to the Purbeck Hills and Jurassic Coast.
  • West Bay
     – Known for its striking cliffs, coastal walks, and fresh seafood dining.
  • Lyme Regis
     – A stunning coastal town famous for fossil hunting and its picturesque harbour.
